CranioSacral Therapy is a gentle yet powerful technique that is effective in releasing pain and alleviating mental/emotional stress. It does this by optimizing the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spine and around the skull, and by releasing stuck connective tissue throughout the body. This treatment is often effective when other bodywork treatments have failed.
Originally developed by osteopathic physician William Sutherland, this therapy provides a profoundly soothing and healing experience. My training has been with the world renown Upledger Institute, with whom I continue to deepen my practice by taking continuing education courses.
Myofascial release (MFR) is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and re-balance the entire body. Related to CranioSacral Therapy, MFR works by using various techniques to stretch the fascia and release the restrictions that can exist between the fascia, muscles, and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain. My work often incorporates both types of pressure.
Using primarily CranioSacral and myofascial Release, I will help to locate and release pain due to muscle and fascial tissue restriction, nerve impingement issues, and also pain caused by unresolved physical and emotional trauma. Many people report a decrease in pain, a greater range of motion, decreased anxiety, improved sleep and profound relaxation upon receiving this type of care.
Using all of the techniques available to me I will work with you to reduce pain and inflammation as a result of your motor vehicle accident, work-related, or other injury.
These techniques can also release physical and emotional trauma that gets "stuck" in the tissues and in the nervous system. These "stuck" places can cause PTSD type symptoms that may impede healing, both physically and emotionally after accidents and other traumatic events.
I am certified as an Intra-Oral practitioner in the state of Washington. This treatment combined with other bodywork modalities- primarily CranioSacral and myofascial work- can greatly improve TMJ issues.
CranioSacral Therapy helps women through childbirth by releasing tissue restrictions and stored emotional issues, and by regulating the nervous system before the birth process. Post-partum women benefit from this kind of support to aid in returning the tissue and nervous system to a balanced state.
Using the skills I have acquired in over 15 years as an LMT and 10 years training and practice in CST, I have been able to help parents and infants to resolve tissue and emotional restrictions that can occur in the birth process. These restrictions can cause fussiness, nursing problems, sleep difficulties, digestive problems and postural limitations- ie; when an infant tends to hold its head in one particular position. It often takes about three sessions to correct most issues.
I have been working with horses most of my life and am excited to be using my CST healing skills to help equine friends and their partners. Mouth/bit issues, ear sensitivities/bridling issues, head tossing, lameness/soreness, fearfulness, and rank attitude, among other problems, can all be improved with bodywork. I also offer groundwork training sessions from a natural horsemanship philosophy, for the development of more respectful communications between horse and human.
Please use the Contact Me page to inquire about current information on qigong practice groups. These groups are generally 1x per week in the early morning with the cost being a suggested donation.
Lymphatic Drainage Therapy aims to gently and rhythmically move the lymph through the body, especially swollen areas of the body, relieving pressure and enhancing the functioning of the immune system. As both a preventative and remedial technique, Manual LD can be used for a wide range of purposes including faster recovery from injury, reduction of swelling and discomfort from pregnancy, and strengthened resistance to illness. I generally combine MLD with other the modalities I use,
